In the present Chinese teaching , we should pay more attention to the cultivation of humanism and focus on real life , as a saying goes , "The extension of Chinese is the one of life ." Then , besides the current national Chinese curriculum , what is the other aspects or extension of Chinese ? In order to develop a Chinese school-based curriculum , what curriculum resources should be chosen ?Facing globalism , nations are paying more attention to their own folk culture . yet, our middle school students mostly show no interest in or know little of ours . This reflects the lack of their cultural nutrients as well as the regrettable imperfection of the current Chinese teaching . Therefore , the local culture should be stressed in elementary education .The paper mainly probes into where the value of the local or native culture of the east of Gansu used as resources for Chinese school-based curriculum lies , and tries to make a plan for carrying out the curriculum . The paper is based on document study with the aid of case analysis . Theoretically, based on theory concerning curriculum and study, new ideas on curriculum reform , and some opinions of humanism , at the same time , adopting new ideas on school-based curriculum development , the paper gives some research and explanation to the value and function of the local culture of the east of Gansu used as resources for school-based curriculum , showing that it is right for school-based curriculum resources ; practically , referring to successful cases , my teaching practice and the characteristics of the native culture the paper made a plan for application with the aid of teaching cases proving that it could be put into practice .The paper mainly includes three parts : (1) The native culture of the east of Gansu ; which could be exploited , is sorted out and reorganized with its own value and educational role showed so that the native culture could be understood . (2) Based on documents and with the view of new curriculum standards , the paper does some research into the value and function of the native culture used for the development of school-based curriculum . (3) Development practice : The paper constructs a comprehensive plan for carrying out the project, taking into consideration of the curriculum development idea , aim , structure , principles of implementation , way , evaluation as well as teaching case records and analyses .In brief, with analysis and discussion of its own value and the value as resources forcurriculum of the native culture and by constructing curriculum plan , the paper aims at promoting a new idea : making the native culture used as school-based curriculum be a significant extension of the current Chinese curriculum , thus, the old teaching ideas could be changed , Chinese teaching view expanded , new , curriculum reform propelled and quality-oriented education carried out.
