The continuous pursuit of the essence of teaching activities is the inherent necessity of the development of the teaching theories and practices .On the basis of the fact the value of the theory ,historical position,due value and the deficiency existing related to the research on the teaching essence had been confined domestically and internationally ,drawing and learning lessons from experiences to reveal the true colors of the essence of teaching is still a major task and orientation.The study on the nature of teaching is the basic problem of teaching .Teaching being is a kind of reality and fact that have already been stored ,so a detailed inquiry into it should still be attributed to the aspect of ontology .The summary ,generalization and analysis of the essential view of teaching ,which is put forward by Li Ding-ren and other educators ,have basically reflected the forward position quality and expansionary of the study on the essence of teaching .On the basis of this ,and according to the connection among those views and certain possible regularity ,the theory of the essence of teaching which is belonged to the aspect of teaching ontology is screened through the division of the attribute of the aspect of philosophy ,pschychology and teaching ontology .In this dissertation a methodology --the unity of history and logic ishold to make a whole reconsideration and comprehensive criticism for the following theories on the aspect of teaching ontology: the Theory of Transmission ,the Theory of Learning ,the Theory of Unity ,the Theory ofKnowledge --Development ,the Theory of Knowledge -- Practice ,theTheory of Level -Style ,the Theory of Knowledge and the Theory of Association .We hold that the Theory of the Activity of knowledge is Used to solve the problem of contradiction of " Subject--Object " ,while the Theoryof Activitity of Association the contradiction of " Subject --Subject " .Bringing out the best to each other ,two theories construct the integrated meaning of teaching .How to realize the fusion and the development of two is an important theoretical question confronting us .To settle this question in my dissertation ,the theory of the essence of the harmony of instruction and learning emerges as the time requires .It holds that teaching is the harmony of instruction and learning .Specifically speaking Reaching is not only the tunity of the activity of knowledge and the activity of association during the process of teaching ,but also the harmony of teacher's instruction and students study during the course of knowledge and association of teaching.The essence of teaching is the harmony of the instruction and the learning .first ,to view the essence of the harmony of instruction and learning according to the complexity of the teaching course; second ,to view from thepoint of view of teacher -student relationship ;third, to view from the viewpoint of the relationship between human and technology ,the objective basis for the theory of the teaching course is existed ,which advocates the harmony of instruction and learning.In a word ,the Theory of the Activity of Knowledge based on the mode of thinking for " Subject -Object" and the Theory of the Activity of Association for "Subject -Subject "accomplish the whole significance of teaching ,which is viewed as one of the human activities .Thus ,the harmony of teacher's instruction and student's study during the course of teaching not only accord with the development of teaching ontology ,but also is inevitable for dialectical materialism seeking into the essence of teaching .The theory ,however ,awaits being theoretically unearthed and practically sought deeply further.
