This paper focuses on the problem of motivation, the theoretical study and ways and techniques to solve the problem of motivation and motivating in the middle school English teaching. Motivation is responsible for why people decide to do something, how long they are willing to sustain the activity, and how hard they are going to pursue it. The situation of English teaching in the middle schools is not inspiring. Among the problems, one is the problem of students having low motivation. Some students seem never able to learn English well. In fact, there is no single magical formula for motivating students. Many factors affect a given student's motivation to work and to learn. Basic principles exist that are applicable to learning in any situation. As teachers, we should all follow the general strategies to motivate the students. A teacher is an organizer, his task and responsibility are to create situations in which students can do their best and achieve their best. Some students are unmotivated just because they may not be able to endure the way they are taught. If the teacher expect to see motivation in his students, he has to be motivated to rethink what is he is doing to them. It is only as he gives himself to his students that he can experience completely the joys and satisfactions of being a teacher..
