Life-and-death education is called death-education abroad. In the developed countries of America and Europe, it has already been studied as far back as the sixties of the 20th century. Up to now the system is comprehensive and relevant research and treatises are abundant. Comparing with the west, the development of life-and-death education relatively lags behind in China. Affected by China's traditional culture, the Chinese take the attitude of evading the death so that the research is confined to limited experts and scholars; as for the school education, the development of life-and-death education is more difficult. In addition, at present the study on it pays more attention to introducing and borrowing the achievements of death-education that the Western countries has acquired, ignoring China's cultural tradition as well as the specific cultural mentality. The difference between cultural traditions is an important aspect that we can't ignore during the process of probing into the theory and implementation of life-and-death education. On the basis of absorbing traditional culture quintessence, using western beneficial experience for reference, this paper attempts to build a theory of life-and-death education which is applicable to higher institutions, at the same time, do some realistic thinking to the implementation of it with the common support of China's traditional culture and modern science.Therefore, the article has selected five institutions of higher learning in Shandong and done the questionnaire investigation concerning with life-and-death education, expecting to find out the specific situations of the university students to some extent.
