At Present time, the reformation in the university requires eagerly to create new theories in education. And the key point of this requirement is to carry on the diathesis education comprehensively. That is to say we need not only to pass on the knowledge but also to cultivate the skills and abilities of the students. Traditional ideas and methods can't deal with this problem, so we've made a research on the cooperative study theory in basketball teaching. We hope to overcome and solve the problems existed in basketball teaching, so that we can renew the notion of it and improve the teaching process.Cooperative study theory is based on the social interdependence theory, cognitive theory and choice theory. Mainly observes and uses the relationships among the people in the class. Making the cooperation among the people in the class. Making the cooperation among the students and teachers to be its power. Its major teaching is to separate the class in to groups, also, this is the theory to improve the student's academic levels, change the study atmosphere from students'inner qualities and social connections.Till now, foreign countries do not have a complete common understanding basketball cooperative teaching theory. But the practice of cooperative teaching is often used, fewer for the research of this practicing.In this article, the author consulted many document materials, handed out some papers, made some experiments and counted many statistics based on the former researchers and gave his own ideas about this problem. By using the theory in ordinary university basketball teaching, the author compared the class, which are under the experiment with the other classes hot under the experiment and found that the former's mark is remarkable advanced than the other. After that, we made some investigations on students'social community, interests of studying, personal relation ships and the results are almost and drew the conclusion that cooperative study basketball teaching.1. Cooperative study is better than traditional basketball teaching because it is efficient, controllable, refinement of the teaching environment, fitting the students'physiology and psychology.2.Though, compared with the traditional teaching methods, cooperative study theory acts the same on the students'physique improvement, but on the grasping of basketball technique and theory, it is for more better.3.cooperative study is distinguished from class-teaching and individual teaching, it can best cultivate and develop the students quality of society, collaboration, altruism, realization of social community, etc. The efforts to cooperate mutual benefits. Also, during the course the self-control ability can be fostered and improved.4. Cooperative study theory raises the students'interests of learning basketball, intensifies the practice in the class. It is remarkable for students to understand basketball theories and all kinds of practical abilities, especially for general studying course.
