Today ,the quality of education has become a deep innovation in the field of fundamental education in China. It is an urgent mission to make a point of enhancing cultivation of students'humanistic spirits in primary and middle schools while we are giving comprehensive quality education to the students. There are two main research contents in this paper: One is the present condition of local humanistic spirit cultivating geography teaching in middle school, the other is how to cultivate local humanistic spirit of the students in geography teaching of middle school. This paper has provided some theoretical and practical explorations forward the work of the cultivation of students' local humanistic spirit in middle school geography teaching by investigating and analyzing these issues theoretically.This paper has also discussed the meaning and main content of local humanistic spirits cultivation of geography teaching in middle school, pointing out that there should be four aspects in cultivating the students' local humanistic spirits of geography teaching in middle school. The four aspects mentioned are civilization qualities, ability qualities, psychological qualities, moral and political qualities. This paper has checked a lot of related comparing information of humanistic spirits cultivation condition including middle schools abroad versus at home and geography versusother subjects in middle school, it including by sending out 1000 students' and 100 teachers' questionnaires to eleven middle schools inside Xiangtan City. It also made individual interview, then it has analyzed the present condition of local humanistic spirits cultivating in middle school geography teaching and point out the problems existing in the present condition of cultivation by investigation and contrast.This paper also has discussed and analyzed f basic approaches and concrete methods of local humanistic spirits cultivating of geography teaching in middle school and probing into the countermeasures of humanistic spirits cultivating of geography teaching in middle school from the theories with practice. In the foundation of the analysis and research above, this paper point out that it is still a question for treating in further study to cultivate humanistic spirits in middle school geography teaching.
