Parent-adolescent Communication, Attachment And Adolescents' Sexuality In Beijing

Adolescents' sexuality was became a social problem which need to be treated seriously. Researchers in foreign countries have been proved that communication between parents and adolescent about sex would reduce adolescent's risk sexual behavior. But there are few study on this topic in our country was conducted. This paper is focus on the relationship between parent-adolescent communication and attachment and adolescents' sexuality. There are 847 adolescent completed our questionnaire. We found that: (1) The pattern of communication between girls and their parents was better than the pattern of communication between boys and their parent. And the pattern of mother-adolescent communication was better than the pattern of father-adolescent communication. (2) The communication between parents and adolescent about sex is rare. And there is significant difference between the patterns of mother-girl sexual communication and mother-boy sexual communication. When focus on father, the difference is significant either. (3) Compare with the family in which adolescent is insecure attached with both father and mother, communication pattern between parent and adolescent is better in the secure attachment family. (4) There are 40% adolescent have involved in romantic relationship. And 25% adolescent had been kiss their partner, 3.3% adolescent had sexual intercourse. There is a significant difference between the attitude of boys and girls about adolescent's sexual behavior. (5) Communication between parents and adolescent is a protect factor on adolescent's sexuality inthe family that adolescent's attachment with father and mother are both insecure.
