At present the environmental questions have threatened and done harm to human beings' health, survival and development. They have even seriously endangered the destiny of the earth and the future of the human beings. Environmental education is a basic way of solving the environmental questions and an essential guarantee to promote the social continuous development. The young people are the future and the hope of Nations, even the world. What will the global environmental condition in the future be is decided by the Youth's future consciousness and the motion in the very great degree. Therefore practically strengthening the environmental education in the secondary school is urgent demand which the present society develops, and also it is a long term which the future society will develop. For comprehensively learning the present situation of environmental education and the existent questions of the secondary schools in Lanzhou city , and providing the present situation materials and the analysis principle for the whole practice of environmental education in the secondary school stage, we use "the present situation of environmental education questionnaire " designed by the author as the main instrument, using the questionnaire survey law, the interviewing law and observes in reality method and so on . This study randomly selected the part of teachers and students of 11 schools in Lanzhou City. In the survey, I studied from the activities of environmental education in schools, environmental knowledge, awareness, acts, and the way to acquire knowledge of the environment, the attitude on environmental education of teachers and students, and the quality of all aspects of environmental education about the teachers. The author got the original sample data of 720 students and 210 teachers and analyzed them by Excel2000 data processing system .The survey results showed that:First. At present, most schools in Lanzhou City paid a certain amount of attention to environmental education; Secondary school teachers have a correct understanding about environmental education, but it is not optimistic on environmental education and the capacity of environmental practices;Second. Students have a certain degree of environmental awareness; they also owned the right values for environment and attitudes towards dealing with the environment. Teachers and students are all concerned about environmental issues in the region. They do not have an adequate understanding about the role of individuals in the environment, and they don't have a good understanding of individual actions;Third. Infiltration education is a main form of environmental education in Lanzhou secondary schools, as well as uneven of subject penetration disciplines. Geography, biology lessons on environmental education in secondary schools plays an important role; the contents and methods of environmental education should be reformed both in particular to strengthening the practice of environmental education and training the awareness of students;Fourth. Teacher education is a weak linking in the education, the majority of the teachers need receive the training.I discovered the following problems in the process of studying environmental education of our city : First, the education system is not completed yet; Second, the way of the environment is little, the activities about it is less; Third, the subject penetration is uneven; Fourth, the lack of environmental education resources; Fifth, it is not enough that students and parents take part in in-depth environmental education; Sixth, the lack of necessary exchanges and cooperation; Seventh, environmental education mechanisms lag behind.Through analyzing of the current situation, the author believes a better environmental education should be performed mainly by the following aspects : First, strengthen publicity, raise national awareness; Second, continue to strengthen the penetration and infiltration of all the progressive models for the Independent Course; Third, do the active practice of environmental education activities; Fourth, start a support system of environmental education; Fifth, establish a sound environmental management system.
