Oral communicative competence may be the most important and fundamental ability of the four basic language skills. Almost everyone can scarcely avoid interpersonal exchange in daily life. However, it is the most daunting skill for us foreign language learners to acquire. In many classroom courses, most teachers put all the emphasis on the students' reading and writing ability; consequently, lots of students can not even achieve correct pronunciation, stress and intonation, let alone express themselves clearly and fluently in English after spending three years in English classroom. "Mute" English has become the popular phenomenon in China's English language teaching. There have been numerous studies on how to improve students' oral communicative competence in classroom teaching in recent years, but so far we have found few practical and operative methods. Therefore, this thesis tries to tell the relationship between oral activities and communicative competence and point out the strategies to develop students' oral communicative competence and establish teaching models for oral classroom activities for five types of lessons in middle schools. And the teaching models were put into practice in a middle school and the result of the English class was improved, which proved that the teaching models are valuable, practical and operative and they can be popularized in middle schools in China.
