A Sociologic Study On The Main Factors Of The "Rise And Decline" Of Track And Field Sports In Putian Since 1980s

Adopting methods of documentary, experts interview, experts questionnaire, mathematical statistics, comparison and analysis, logical analysis, etc., on the base of reviewing the developing history of track and field sports in Putian before 1980s, the paper has put stress on making evaluation on Putian's competition force in Fujian sports meeting, National sports meeting, Asian Sports Meeting and Olympic Game, as well as making sociological analysis on the main factors influencing on the "rise and decline" of track and field sports in Putian Province; it aims at revealing the main "crucial reason" of its "rise and decline" development, and restoring the former awe-inspiring of track and field sports in Putian.The study has shown results as follows:①Before establishing our country, track and field sports in Putian Province has gone through 3 stages: spontaneous entrance-match-spreading. It attributes its development to the propagation of church school, the popularity of school education, relatively stable environment of society, politics and economy, teacher team which has offered as tribute, united and gone forward, and rather advanced idea of training and spreading.②From the foundation of new China to 1980s, track and field sports in Putian has gone through another 3 stages "inheritance and development—policy support—exchange and improvement". It attributes its development to the high value and support of government, the further popularity and spreading of school track and field sports, rather complete competition and selection system combining popularity and improvement, as well as strong social public opinion and holding and joining of high-level match.③In the middle of 1980s, track and field sports in Putian has achieved historical period of great prosperity, and possessed a certain competition force in home and abroad important match. However, it is those "top" athletes growing up in 1970s that really achieved the brilliance of track and field sports in Putian. With the leaving of old athletes, the competition force home and abroad of track and field sports of Putian has declined. ④From the middle of 1980s, the competition force of track and field in Putian has gone through a transforming course from flourishing to declining. No matter the first group representing the highest competing level or the second group representing excellent reserve talent, the former "overlord" has faced unprecedented challenge. The superiority cluster which ensures the competing position of track and field sports in Putian has appeared a rather larger wave motion, the coverage has shrivelled; the superiority event cluster has transformed track and field to field events as the main aspect.⑤The main factors influencing "rise and decline" of track and field in Putian has included the following aspects: the improvement of obtaining employment expected value from parents to children; the cultural degree and vocation skills of athlete are hard to meet employing need; the education of taking an exam leads to the declining value degree to the school P.E.; the theory of school P.E. position has contrast to the reality; the mechanism in operation of talent's find, culturing and transportation is not perfect.
