With the coming of the knowledge economy, people pay more attention to the development of higher education, especially from the year 1999, when China began the enrollment expansion in higher education, which led a historical breakthrough in China higher education. The enrollment rate of higher education reached 19% in 2004, and China has already started its process of higher education massification. The quality and running benefits from running school in higher education have been paid more attention accompanying with the massification process. The improvement of the benefits from running school in higher education has been urgently required by the conflict between the limited higher education resources and the continuous expansion of the higher education requirements, by the transformation from extensive economic growth mode to intensive economic growth mode, and by the strategies of scientific development concept and economical society.The research of this paper was based on the dialectical materialistic and historical materialistic epistemology and methodology, and was complying with scientific, feasibility and validity principles. The theory and method of philosophy, education, economics, and management science were all comprehensively used in this paper. The paper defined the connotation of the benefits from running school in higher education, analyzed the factors the affected the benefits, and then discussed the practical problems and the countermeasures.Firstly, this paper compared and differentiated a couple of closely related concepts: benefit and efficiency. And discussed their applications in the education area, and then defined the benefits from running school in higher education. According to this, it then analyzed the factors affecting the benefits: structure, scale, quality and management. It studied the relationship of the factors. After this, the paper researched and analyzed the actuality and the problems of the benefits from these four aspects. Finally, this paper put forward the countermeasures of improving the benefits based on the former analysis and research.
