Developing the students' science literacy is the essential aim of the new curriculum reform on elementary education, and scientific inquiry is the core approach in the science learning. But, since the base of philosophy of science of science education is confined to the scientific view of logical empiricism, that scientific inquiry is inclined to the logical empiricism in the practice of teaching. So, it is necessary to use the achievement of contemporary philosophy of science for reference to reflect on scientific inquiry of science education.This essay begins with the summary of scientific knowledge increase theory, then discusses scientific inquiry of science education from the perspective of scientific knowledge increase theory: Scientific inquiry begins with questions, the questions interpenetrate scientific inquiry from beginning to end; trial and error is the primary character in the process of scientific inquiry. It is manifested in the following aspects: tentatinity, verification and reiteration. Creative and critical spirit is the basic spirit of scientific inquiry. Finally, this essay constructs a scientific inquiry model based on scientific knowledge increase theory. This essay is going to promote deep-seated understanding about scientific inquiry, and provide the enlightenment and reference to the practice of science education.
