Investigation Into Present Status And Developing Trend Of Industry Sport Associations In China

Industry Sport Associations (ISAs), as the mainbody of employee sports, have been playing an important role in the sports development in China: such as employees' participation in exercise, enhancement of their physical quality, further popularization of mass sports, increase of sports population, promotion of the development of the Third Industry, and improvement of people's quality and so on. However, as the reform of economy system goes further in China, ISAs have been shrinking and its function weakening for a number of factors, which blocks the development of employee and mass sports. In this paper, in order to have a comprehensive knowledge of ISAs, this study investigated them to find out their management, function and development factors in socialist market economy. Literature, questionnaire and interview were utilized in this investigation. The organization and management of ISAs, the mode of their function, their present situation and main problems, and the trend of their development and so on were studied and analyzed.The major findings of the study include:1. As the mainbody of employee sports, ISAs have made great contributions to China's sports, especially to mass sports. In the future, ISAs will be of the essence of the development of mass sports in China.2. The ultimate purpose of ISAs is to enhance the physical and mental health of employees and their family members, increase social intercourse among employees and stimulate the construction of sports culture. 3. The main problems which ISAs are faced with include the decrease of the number of ISAs, the lack of personnel, the insufficiency of finances, and the shortage of sports fields and facilities. In addition, the poor management and weakfunction of ISAs and the lack of high qualified administrators also hamper the development of ISAs.The development of ISAs is of great significance for the realization of the sports socialization in China. Then, in socialist economy, how to reform further? How to bring ISAs into play to promote the development of China's mass and competitive sports? These are major concerns of our government and society. This paper provide the theoretical and practical basis for the further reform of ISAs and the promotion of sports socialization in China.
