History education plays an insubstituted role in the development of national qualities. Because of this, for more than 50 years since the establishment of PRC, history course in the middle schools has been gone through reforms over ten times, for each of which the process is really arduous, and this time has exception. The establishment of the course standard is the main part of this reform, and it is also the key point that decides whether that can be successful. Basing on the reality of the reforms in middle schools, from the angles of course target, course content and course implement, this essay makes comprehensive comparison between History Course Standard in Ordinary High School (STANDARDS in short as following) and Personal, Social and Humanities Education and Study Field on History Course and Valucation Guide Line (GIUDE LINE in short as following). This essay contains three parts:The first part is the comparison of course target. Course target is the core of the course. In this part, it gives special emphasis on the main similarities and differences of these two course targets. Both STANDARDS and GIUDE LINE highlight the significance of citizen education function, humanities education function and the development of historical thought abilities. However, from the aspect of operation, GIUDE LINE obtains more direction on the ability development of "historical data usage".The second part is the comparison of course content. The course content is the basic condition of the realization of course target. This part makes a comparison on the two aspects i.e. the arrangement systems and the contents, of STANDARDS and GIUDE LINE. In the composition of content constitution, STANDARDS manifests the diversity and comprehension principles fully; however, history course in Hong Kong has an unconventional advantage over the contents selection of times.The third part is the comparison of course implement. The course implement is the key of the realization of the course target. This part makes a comparison from the teaching suggestion and the development and using of curriculum resources. GIUDE LINE has a more specifically practical teaching suggestion and strong instructions. But in the teaching idea and the study methods, they are consistent; they all take special attention on the development and using of curriculum resources, while STANDARDS explicitly proposed that the teacher is the important curriculum resources.
