Along with the high speed development of China's economy and culture, English teaching has been developing very fast from teaching materials to teaching methods in order to meet different needs of different people. In middle schools this development shows even greater urgency and importance. The issue of new English curriculum fro junior middle school sets higher demands on better teaching and learning methods and effects as well. In order to reform teaching concept, to cultivate some English practical abilities, to enhance the efficiency of classroom teaching and to train students'self-teaching ability, we must take some reforms in the English teaching model aspect.Teacher talk, the speech teachers use in classroom, is an aspect which has received much attention recently, for it is believed to be a key variable in FL/L2 development.The influence of teacher talk to students is an important point to study. This thesis is trying to answer the questions below by contrasting some teacher talk through recording and questionnaires:1. What is the amount of teacher talk and student talk in the EFL classrooms?2. Are there more display questions or referential questions? What is the distribution of each question?3. What kind of feedback do teachers usually give to students when they want to praise the students?4. What is the frequency of the three types of interactional modification in each class under investigation?Through all these findings, some conclusions are reached:The real abilities of students are trained by classroom interaction. Teacher talk is a main part in the classroom interaction. It is teacher talk that guides and directs the interactive abilities so as to achieve the aim of improving SLA. At the end of the conclusion part, the author also gives some suggestions to improve the English class of middle school.
