OBJECTIVE To understand the status of family planning service; to find out those factors impacting on quality of care in family planning services and explore the measures that could improve the quality of care in family planning.METHODS Ten villages were clustering sampled and every reproductive aged woman in these villages fill out a questionnaire about family planning service. The data is collected, reviewed and encoded before being input and analyzed with SPSS11.0. All analysis and discussions are made on the basis of the investigation results.RESULTS1. The reproductive aged women know a lot of knowledge about family planning. The reproductive aged women in town know more family planning knowledge than those in rural area as well as those married at older age know more than who married younger. The reproductive aged women who have been educated at family planning school know more family planning knowledge than those who have not.2. 79.7% of these reproductive aged women know more than two contraceptive methods. The knowledge of contraceptive is relative to age. The reproductive aged women in town know more contraceptive than those in rural area as well as those reproduced at older age know more than who reproduced younger. The reproductive aged women who have been educated at family planning school know more contraceptive knowledge than those who have not.3. The difference of the probability of accepting family planning service between clients in town and in rural area are these: the distance between the client and family planning station, the equipments in family planning station, the cost of family planning service, the technique and attitude of the personnel in the station.4. The factors impact on the quality of care in family planning services are reproductive health services and the technique and attitude of the personnel in family planning stations. The important factor impacted on the quality of care in family planning services in town is the technique of the personnel in family planning stations, while which in rural area are the technique of the personnel in family planning stations and reproductive health services.CONCLUSIONS The reproductive aged women know a lot of knowledge about family planning and contraceptive, but these in rural and younger know less. Giving more equipment and improving skills of the personnel in rural family planning stations can increase the probability of accepting family planning service in rural area. To improve the quality of care in family planning services, we must improve skills of the personnel in family planning stations and pay more attention to reproductive health services.SUGGESTIONS Spreading propaganda for family planning;setting up more family planning stations; improving skills of the personnel in family planning stations and paying more attention to reproductive health services.
