Ancient Chinese academy and Middle Ages European university are two educational systems with characteristics among ancient higher education.They have exerted profound and lasting influence on modem higher education.Based on the spirit of "make the past serve the present and the foreign serve China,"this thesis focuses on a comparative analysis on the curriculum establishment by adopting the approach of documentation,comparative analysis and element analysis,hoping that it will offer some beneficial suggestions on the curricula establishment in China's colleges and universities.Through the analysis,a conclusion is drawn as follows:laying stress on spreading doctrines and benefiting people, holding in high esteem ethics and virtues,emphasizing on instructing and studying independently,taking charge by president's overall;compare with characteristics of the curriculum on ancient Chinese academy,Middle Ages European university is formed as follows:attaching importance to specialty and practicality,seeking science and rationality, devocating giving lectures and debating,organizations' effective managing~ There are some similarities:including the practicality of curriculum objectives,humanities of curriculum content,enlightening of curriculum implementing, self-controlling of curriculum managing,etc.In addition,based on the research above, this thesis further points out the problems in the reforming of curriculum in colleges and universities nowadays:making the curriculum objectives instrumental,making the curriculum content knowledge, making the curriculum implementing unitary,making the curriculum managing formal.In conclusion,the analysis above leaves us some revelation:combing scientific aim with humanitarian aim,traditional education and innovative education,collegial independence and academic freedom.
