To make Chinese education more scientific, national and modern hasbeen the goal of Chinese educationists for several generalizations. ZhangZhigong is a brilliant and famous linguist and Chinese educationist. Hedevoted himself to Chinese teaching and formed his own idea in this field, which is always regarded as precious treasure among Chinese educationtheories. Therefore, from a comprehensive perspective, the present papertries to make a thorough study of it, which is of theoretical and practicalsignificance.The whole dissertation is divided into three parts.The first part talks about the background under which Zhang formedhis thoughts in terms of his study and working experiences. Zhang did notget so involved in traditional Chinese education; and that's why he couldkeep a rational and objective research attitude towards tradition way. Andat the same time, he originated his thoughts in Chinese nationaltraditional culture. And moreover, with rich foreign languages studybackground, he could have a more spacious spectrum of academicresearch; and what's more, his though could more lively.In the second part, we provide a comprehensive study of histhoughts on Chinese education and then get its theoretical system andlogic line. This part is furtherly divided into five sub-parts, namely, Chinese education reform theory, modern education ideation, Chineseteaching textbook reform theory, comprehension teaching ideation andcomposition teaching concept, among which, Chinese education reformtheory concretely embodies the goal of Chinese education; and the secondsub-part explicates in detail the nature of the Chinese teaching itself, ect.The third part abstracts three characteristics from Zhang's thoughts. His thoughts have the characteristics of predictive function, originalityand practical use, which is the creativity of the present paper.Illuminatedby Zhang's thoughts, the author points out we should treat the Chineseeducation's history and today from a diachronic and scientific perspective.And moreover, we should learn from Zhang's personality and histhoughts.
