Graduate education is the highest level of diploma education in China and it takes the responsibility of fostering high level and creative professionals. In 2003,the Chinese government put forward the strategy of cultivating creative talents. The quality and level of graduate education reflect a country or a region's overall level of science and technology. In order to improve postgraduates'creativity,the Ministry of Education started the "post-graduate education innovation project" in the same year.Due to the importance of developing postgraduates'creativity, this paper was dedicated to address this issue. By adopting the method of sample survey, this thesis analyzes the assessment indicators, the present state and the influencing factors of postgraduates'creativity and students'judgment towards the improving measures. Based on the above findings, the author puts forward some effective measures to foster postgraduates'creativity.Through the survey and analysis, the findings indicate that:1)In Chongqing's universities,both postgraduates'and teachers'overall assessment shows that they consider the 22 items creativity indicators to be relatively important. And the average is 4.1.There are four dimensions of postgraduate's creativity assessment: creative thinking, creative intelligence, knowledge structure and academic creativity.2)In the universities of Chongqing, postgraduates'assessment of the present state of their own creativity is close to the middle level, whose average is only 2.93. The assessment of academic creativity present state ranks the fourth place, and the average is only 2.14, which is relatively low. The assessment of creative thinking, knowledge structure and creative intelligence are at the middle level, and their average points are 3.83, 3.18 and 3.17. Besides the factors of different ages, school types and grades, postgraduates'assessment of the four dimensions of the creativity present state is significantly diverse between different genders as well as different majors.3)Ranked according to the degree in descending order, the influencing factors of Postgraduate's creativity are the educational system, teachers, students themselves, the process and environment of cultivation and the social environment.4)The assessment of measures of fostering postgraduate's creativity can be concluded into five aspects. They are postgraduates themselves, teachers, the academic environment, educational system and the social environment. 5)According to the present state and influencing factors of Postgraduate's creativity, this paper puts forward some basic measures of fostering postgraduate's creativity from the following three aspects: initiativing the concept of postgraduates'creativity education, ameliorating the cultivating process and building up the environment for fostering student's creativity.
