Student adaptability to textbook is an important component of textbook applicability, it is also a significant aspect of textbook evaluation in the 21st century. How to construct an evaluation system based on student as appraising body, is a brand-new topic in textbook research field. Appraisal on student adjustability to textbook is an necessary complementarity to traditional textbook evaluation which is executed by experts.It is of vital meaning to select this problem as reseach topic to textbook's choosing and using of school. There are extremely few resreaches which aim at this theme from the review of domestic and foreign studies of textbook appraisal. Taking the New Concept Quantum Physics Textbook as the example, we conduct a in-depth research to construct a evaluation system of student adaptability to textbook which takes student as evaluaion body. The main work includes several aspects, which are the setting of indicators frame of all levels,the calculation of weight, designing of appraisal tool,as well as the appraisal method, the appraisal result obtaining and so on.On the foundation of interview with students, and with reference to theory of education and textbook evaluation,teaching theory of advanced physics and psychology theory of physics learning, we set up the evaluation system of student adaptability to New Concept Quantum Physics Textbook. It consists of five first-level indicators (they are: scientific level, cognition law,intelligence cultivation,non-intelligence-ingredients cultivation and level of compiling quality) and twenty final indicators. Each first-level indicator includes several second-level ones, and third-level ones are set under second-level indicators according to special conditions. The weight of indicator of all levels is caculated based on "two-pace-method"(including contrast ordering and logarithm weighted average)which evolves from administrative levels analyticcal method. The appraisal tool——questionnaire is made according to the above evaluation system. We made a survey on the 86 studens who enrolled in South China Normal University in 2004 and majored in physics education. The data was processed and analyzed with the help of software SPSS and excel. The conclusions we obtained are as following.1.The student adaptability to New Concept Quantum Physics Textbook is comparatively good as a whole(the mark of adaptability is 72.5).Student adjustability to different final indicators is dissimilar. The final indicator which students adjust best is the function of of pysics thought and method education (the mark is 80.5), and adjust worse is that the textbook doesn't offer answers to exercise. There are 11 ones which student adjust better (the score is between 78.3-70.2), including teaching idea,font and size of words, advanced level, experimental foundation, practical application, system of textbook, language expression and so on. There are 6 ones which student's adaptability level is just average(the score is between 69.3-1.4), including self-study-ability-cultivation, stimulation of interest, the modern-physics-exp eriment-ability cultivation, the propriety of mathematics beginning, the sample-question compilation, the utilization-mathematics-ability raising.2.Excellent students adapt to the textbook better as s whole, as well as average students and difficulty students(the mark is75.0, 71.7, 74.3 seperately). And there are no remarkable differences in whole adaptablity between them. There is remarkable difference in single indicators, that is teaching method of seeping type, between excellent students and difficulty students. the seeping type teaching method suits to excellent students best.3. Male students'whole adaptability to the textbook is better, as well as female students (their mark is 73.1,72.1 seperately)and there is no notable difference between them; there is no difference to final indicators between boy students and girl students.Carrying out an analysis of reliability and availability, we find that the two indexes of the appraisal tool are better. It suggests that the above appraisal result is quite reliable, whicn can reflect the situation of the students to New Concept Quantum Physics textbook well of South China Normal University. Moreover, the blue print of the evaluation we design is of general meaning, it suits to other schools which use the same textbook, and it may be taken as a reference for the evaluation on student adaptability to other textbooks.Founded on the above conclusion, we analyse the luminescent spots of Concept Quantum Physics Textbook from students point of view with reference to the statistical outcome of learning actuality of the former four grades of students, which include: the function of physics thought and method education, teaching method of seeping type, attention to the newest progress of the discipline, novel system of textbook, attenion to relation with actuality, vivid express of language; and point out its flaws: The function of the system of excersize and sample-question compilation is limited, and it is not suitable for students to study independently. We also conclude some enlightenment to the teaching, which includes: the modernization of course content and teaching method, the stimuation of interest, the development and use of the curriculum website, displaying teacher's leading role fully.Finally the insufficiency in the research is analyzed .On the one hand, we have not been able to gain the information of all objects of the survey fully;on the other hand, we can't make a comparison with other schools which take this book as textbook.
