The author in this article investigates the present situation of wushu coaches of the amateur sports school of Hebei province, and also surveys the structure of their age, educational experience, professional skills, knowledge structure as well as their capability by using some research methods including referring to the bibliographies, questionnaires, interviews, statistics, and analysis, etc. On the basis of the investigation, the following conclusions are drawn.1. At present, in the amateur martial arts school, the coaches have some advantages in their age. Those who are between 25 to 45, the best age stage, account for 70 % of the total, with the average age of 33.5, average teaching time of 11.4 years. So the amateur martial arts school has a young and steady group of coaches and teachers.2. The whole group of coaches of the amateur sports school is changing from skillful to knowledgeable in their general type. The coaches who have got at least junior college academic degrees occupy 86.95% of the total teaching staff in the present situation. But the professional titles distribute unevenly among the group, however they have the advantageous potential of stable development.3. In their intelligence, their knowledge and their capability, the coaches of the martial arts of the amateur sports school have their disadvantages of unbalanced development, which is the reason why the training efficiency is rather low. And the training of the reserve force in Hebei province haven't been in the advantage.4. The coaches had single athletic experience when they were athletes. They had rather low sports level and lack teaching experience, so they still have some weak points and mistakes in guiding the amateur training.5. Another problem is that employment rather than cultivation is attached too much importance. All the leaders who have been surveyed thought the first task of the coach is to train the athletes to take part in the matches for awards and prizes, which makes the coaches in general think quite highly of the training instead of educating.6. The investigation also indicates that the coaches have a better understanding of the new rules but have a low efficiency of application in practical training, which reveals that we lack the integration of the theory and practice in training the martial arts coaches in the tricks, and they can not unite study with application. To the problems listed above, some solutions as following are put forward:1. Adapt different coaches at different levels to different training contents. Meantime, the coaches themselves should attach great importance to self improvement. Hence the external training and further study will play the greatest part in the full cultivation and education of the sportsmen.2. Invite the specialists and professional scholars to have seminars and lectures on special subjects. In this way the quality of teacher training would be guaranteed. Furthermore, the coaches could also get contact with the most advanced scientific knowledge and apply it to the ordinary training.3. Carry out the principle of integrating study with application. Coaches should apply directly and promptly the learned knowledge and skills to the practice of teaching and training, in order to raise as soon as possible the quality of training.4. The implementing of the measurements is dependent on the great and forceful support of policy. So the leaders in charge at different levels, under the circumstances of attaching importance to academic degrees, should have the training concept of"capability first", they should take the present situation of martial arts of Hebei province as an enterprise, and training the coaches into qualified and competent and talented people. Besides, the number of candidates of coaches should be enlarged and the quality of training should be raised.
