This article multiply used documents, questionnaire, interview, statistics and ratiocination carefully studied the basic factors, teaching process, teaching effect and current problems of basketball optional class of public physical education in Shandong province. Under the guidance of the compendium of national P·E teaching, use educational, logical theory, and according to the education reforms, the strategies and suggestions on further reformation and development of P·E are put forward. All the above aims to change traditional basketball teaching ideas, fully improve quality-oriented education and basketball optional program and the quality of basketball optional of Shandong province.The conclusion of this article is as follows:1. It can meet the students'need and improve their interesting of study, it benefits for improving sports ability and basketball teaching, fulfilling education goal and all-life exercises2. It has made a great progress on improving students'health and good habit of doing exercises, because of the correct guidance and clear teaching goal.3. The most teachers of basketball optional are young; some of them are not majored in basketball. Most of them are good at basketball, serious attitude about teaching, reasonable title of technical post, but lacking of master degree and attending in advanced studies, simple teachers origin, and unhealthy teaching conditions are the main factors of influence on teaching.4. The students are very interest in basketball optional and serious about studying; the equipments basically can meet their needs. But the short studying course, crowded students and their bad base of basketball are the main factors of influence on teaching quality.5. Lacking of teaching materials. Most of the anniversaries adopt the reference book and textbook related to basketball, some of them adopt the book edited by sports colleges and some choose the book edited by themselves.6. The teaching contents unilaterally emphasize on imparting basketball skills and improving the quality, so it lacks of basketball theory and basketball appreciation.7. According to the teaching methods, they mainly use the traditional, which slow down the general process of higher education. Modern teaching equipments are inefficiently used and some better results of teaching experiments are not effectively popularized.8. The estimate contents are unperfected and the methods are unreasonable. The estimate emphasis on basketball skills and ignore the improvement and moral character; the estimate methods and estimator are simple, which mainly are teachers estimate and finality estimate. There is lacking of fully understanding of estimate standard and gist that can embody the characteristics of high school basketball optional.
