On Human-Oriented Management Of College Students

In today's society, faced with fierce competition in the job market, higher education institutions are shouldering the historic task of cultivating higher level talents with creativity and practical skills and therefore are the major force to carry out the national policy of developing the country with science and technology. Students are the major body of schools, being the basis for the existence of schools. Student management is a comprehensive management by higher institution of works related to students. It plays an import role in the whole management system of a higher institution. From the development undergone by China's higher education, it can be seen that the development of higher education relies on the strengthened management and the establishment of efficient internal management system to improve the benefit and efficiency of universities and colleges. With the development and transformation of economy and the expanding size of colleges and universities and students body, there are new situations and problems which pose both opportunity and challenge to higher education institutions. As a result, student management in higher education institutions shall undergo adjustment accordingly on the basis of carrying out the national education policy so that qualified all-round workers can be cultivated to satisfy the need of socialist construction.The 3rd Session of the 16th Conference of CPC explicitly proposed the policy of comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable social economic development guided by the outlook of scientific development. The 17th Conference of CPC further proposed the demand for realizing the outlook of scientific development, calling for a course of socialism characteristic of China. Being human-oriented is the coherent nature and core of scientific development. The foundation of being human-oriented means considering everything by starting considering human being first. In the current situation, student management in higher education institutions shall establish the idea of being human-oriented, making best of students' initiative and teachers' guidance. With this idea, student management system can be established and improved with creative works done in the management so that a new leaf can be turned over for the student management in higher education institutions. This thesis applies the fundamental theories of management and educational sciences. With a deep understanding of the significance of being human-oriented in higher education student management, an analysis is to be conducted on the weaknesses of current management works. Supported by a theoretical foundation and a environmental foundation, the thesis attempts to set up an index system for assessing student management. On this basis, solutions are proposed.
