In recent years, the debt problem in higher colleges and universities has become the focus of society. The financial crisis in colleges and universities caused by debt problem has become the unavoided realistic problem faced with higher education. According to the estimation of some scholars, the debt sums of colleges and universities educational range from 250 billion yuan to 400 billion yuan on the whole. The substantial debts have seriously affected the normal operation of colleges and universities. Most colleges and universities in debt do not have the ability to pay off the debts rely on themselves, as a result, the financial crisis of higher educational institutions become more difficult to deal with. As a postgraduate of Higher Education major, it is necessary for the author to conduct some researches on the extent, influence and causes of financial crisis of colleges and universities in China, and analyze the strategies to solve the problem from the scholarly perspective.The thesis analyzes the financial crisis comprehensively from the following six parts:Chapter one defines the concept of financial crisis in colleges and universities using a descriptive method, and on the basis of the concept, the author elaborates the main manifestation of the present financial crisis in colleges and universities- debts, and explores the scale of debts in higher educational institutions through actual data.Chapter two analyzes the negative effects of the financial crisis in higher educational institutions on colleges and universities and society. Chapter three conducts a further research on the causes of financial crisis of colleges and universities. The causes include these five dimensions: the extended recruitment of colleges and universities, the incorporation among colleges and universities, the investments of government, higher educational institutions per se, and financial banks.Chapter four testifies the reasonability of the fact that colleges and universities take bank loans on a large scale from the levels of law and institution.Chapter five, referring to the experience of other nations concerned with the financial institution of higher education, the author puts forward some valuable proposals regarding the construction and development of Chinese colleges and universities finance.The last chapter puts forward the author's viewpoint on how to solve the financial crisis of colleges and universities in China.
