Teachers' professional development is the hot issue of teacher research for the present. This essay focuses on an empirical research on the backbone primary-school teachers in Wujiang, the teachers of the backbone primary school Chinese and maths teachers training class in particular, and explores the ways of backbone primary-school teachers' professional development in Wujiang.This essay starts with relative theories, discusses the basic definitions of backbone teachers, teachers' professionalization, teachers' professional development and local teachers' professional development and analyzes the roles, qualities and types of the backbone primary-school teachers. This essay then focuses on a research on the personality and status of the backbone primary-school Chinese and maths teachers and analyzes the stages and factors of the development of the backbone primary-school teachers in Wujiang, On the basis of the empirical research and practice, this essay proposes the basic and special strategy of the development of local backbone primary-school teachers, which proved by two specific cases of the development of backbone primary-school teacher.
