An Experimentation Study Of Cultivating University P.E. Majors' Ability Of Mastering The Basic Skill Of Basketball Umpiring

Basketball is a popular sports item in China. In order to improve the development of basketball, we need to cultivate umpires of different levels, however, there are not special schools established only for training umpires in China and the selection and bringing up of umpires mostly depend on different kinds of associations and departments. Umpires in China mainly hail from students graduated from P.E department of university and according to the characteristics of the P.E.majors, bringing up and improving the skill of these students is the major content of university. Therefore, how to cultivating and improving students'umpiring ability will deeply affect the establishment for basketball umpires, and students'ability of organizing teaching and match after their graduation. The basic skill is the basis for basketball umpires and assures the success of matches. Especially when junior umpires update for senior umpires, they must put stress on the basic skill and indeed improve it.According to the characteristics of the P.E. students, this essay studies how to strengthen the basic skill of students on their first stage of cultivating ability of basketball umpires. We hope to find out the appropriate approaches for improving the basic skill of students on their first stage of cultivating ability of basketball umpires through reforming the traditional teaching methords and giving prominence to the basic skill during the teaching process, and to present experience for cultivating the umpires-to-be.
