Roller-skating, a new sport marked by fitness, entertainment and fashion, is popular with young people. In recent years, it is developed and popularized in universities, especially in north China. Today more and more colleges and universities in the South have been or are planning to put into the teaching and training, which promoted its popularity. However, middle schools, with a much larger number of young students, but merely few of them take up roller-skating.Suzhou is a rising star of the domestic roller skating. With the rapid development and the national roller-skating team set up, several of world roller skating games held here. Roller Skating has become the new business card of the city, hence the reputation of"city of roller-skating". As for the physical education in the middle schools, quality education has been actively implemented in high schools, while the examination-oriented education commonly exists in junior middle schools. Physical education content always relates to the test items. The monotonous and boring teaching content led to students'passiveness and lack of interest in sports learning. Whether to match the city image or to respond positively to the urgent need for education reform, it is necessary to develop roller skating in schools. This article made a study and exploration to the feasibility of introducing roller skating to Suzhou urban junior school.By spot check, the paper conducted a questionnaire survey to the leaders in charge of sports, PE teachers and students. According to the survey, leaders and teachers approve of it in various degrees. Most Students know or show interest in it and long to take part in it. Among them more than half are willing to buy the appliance. Its demand for the ground is low. Through the sampling site investigation, the school facilities can meet the basic needs of roller sports. This provides hardware conditions and a better basis for the masses for introduction of roller skating to junior schools. This paper also conducted roller skating experiment to test its influence on students'physical fitness and attitude towards exercise. The experimental group participates in roller skating while the control group in physical training as usual. In comparison with the control group, the experimental one benefits more from the activity in some aspects of physical fitness with better attitude towards exercise. The survey shows that students are more active in physical training after roller skating practice. That is another proof of students'attitude towards exercise. And this conclusion provides a practical basis on the introduction of roller skating in junior middle schools.Research shows the feasibility of introduction of roller skating in Suzhou urban junior schools. This paper seeks to enrich sports curriculum and extracurricular sports for junior secondary schools. In addition, it is a reference for department of education administration to promote roller skating in Suzhou urban junior high schools.
