Regular senior high school education in the national education system has a unique status and value. A new curriculum reform is being carried out at an extraordinary speed nationally, and the new curriculum reform firstly is the reform of teaching ideas."all goes for the development of the students"is the highest aim and the core idea of the new curriculum reform. While the key to the success of the reform are the conductors of the course -- teachers, in particular, the head teacher.In addition to the normal teaching, head teachers have to shoulder the responsibility of the managing classes. Head teachers'working methods and ideas have a far-reaching and even lifelong impact on the students. Head teachers's special function and position seal they are important practitioners of the spirit of the new curriculum reform.In consequence, it is imperative to promote the competence of head teachers in regular senior high school wth the background of the new curriculum reform.This paper first describes the nature, characteristics and responsibilities, tasks of the work of head teachers,laying the theoretical foundation for further study. And then the researcher analyzes the new challenges and the new tasks under the new curriculum reform in the new situation in the new era,thus drawing the conclusion that the work of promoting the competence of head teachers is imperative. Finally the research put forward four strategies of promoting the competence of head teachers from four perspectives.
