In order to know more about developmental features of technique and tactics used by world-famous tennis players in stalemate stage, this paper makes a statistical analysis on application of techniques and tactics in stalemate stage (mainly about techniques) used by 14 tennis players in their 12 single matches in Shanghai Tennis Master Cup of 2005—2007 and it aims to satisfy tennis coaches and tennis players'training requirements. The research is carried out by adopting the methods of literature consultation, observation, mathematical statistics, comparative analysis etc. It makes horizontal and vertical analysis on partial technical links and spatial features of application of techniques and tactics, by which it objectively exhibits the features and principles of techniques and tactics applied in active stalemate stage in high–level single tennis matches. The findings show:1.Stalemate stage is an important component in the whole competitive process which takes up one third of the whole process.2.The result shows that players who have stronger forward spin in forehand and backhand drive have better stalemate capability.3.In stalemate stage, scoring rate and the proportion of scoring are high in hitting a runaround and techniques for forehand and backhand drive, whereas usage rate is low; Scoring rate and the proportion of scoring are low in backhand chop stroke used in defense and changing rhythm of hitting whereas usage rate is high. Scoring rate, the proportion of scoring and usage rate are low in techniques of forehand chop stroke and lob; Scoring rate is high, but the proportions of scoring and usage rate are relatively low in techniques of drop-shot, volley skill and smash.4.In the respects of spatial features and effects while using techniques and tactics in stalemate stage: 1)Spatial features of hitting area in distribution are that the focus is left and right back court, from the back to the front.2)Spatial features of scoring rate in hitting field: fore court>midcourt> backcourt, right approach>left approach.3)The highest proportion of scoring in hitting fields is left back court and right back court.4)Distributional features of landing points are tilt from the back to the front and from left backcourt to right forecourt.5 ) Usage rates of landing points: left backcourt>right backcourt>left forecourt>right forecourt; scoring rate of landing points field: left backcourt
