A Study On The Technical And Tactical Characteristics And The Future Development Of Ba-Yi Women's Basketball Team

Since 1990's,the world basketball sports have leapt into a new era of development.In December 2001,the Women Chinese Basketball Association(WCBA) officially started home and away system,which eventually marked that Chinese women's basketball had become a professional basketball league.However,due to the development and the reform of China women's basketball system are relatively late, there is still a large gap at both of the management level and competitive level comparing to other best women's basketball teams in the world.As the WCBA is now the top-level league in China,the author of this paper believes that in-depth studies on WCBA teams,especially the technical and tactical characteristics and the development of those top teams in the league,will play a practical and significant role in helping us enhance the overall competitive level of China women's basketball, accelerating the reform of our basketball management,and reducing the gap with the world's best women's basketball teams.Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team is one of the best teams in the WCBA.The team won six championships of the 5^th to 10^th National Basketball Game in a row,and was the champion of WCBA 2002-2003,2003-2004,2004-2005,and 2007-2008. Meanwhile,Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team also cultivates and supplies a large number of skilled,tenacious,and high-level athletes to the China National team, including the most famous center ZHENG Haixia,and some other active players such as CHEN Nan,SUI Feifei,REN Lei,ZHANG Xiaoni,and so on.In this paper,as one of the Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team members,the author aims to do an in-depth study on the technical and tactical characteristics of this team,and give an outlook of its future development direction as a military basketball team in the current China sports reform.The author hopes these analyses can help Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team in the athlete selection,and professional basketball training and management. Moreover,the author also treats this work as a very helpful reference to the future development of China women's basketball.After the analysis on the game statistics of Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team, including the offense/defense efficiency,rebound efficiency,the contributions of the players,and analyzing the basic offense/defense methods of Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team,in WCBA 05-06,06-07,and 07-08,the author concludes:(1) Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team has a reasonable overall age structure,and a neat staffing. Many of its players have ever been selected to the national team.(2) In offensive, Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team has excellent shooting abilities,high field goal rate, and is keeping an upwards trend year by year.But if one looks into the offensive turnover rate of the team,this value have been high in both absolute and relative values.(3) Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team is an all-around developed team which leads the league in rebounds and the offense/defense efficiency,and is specialized in short range goal offensive under the basket.(4) Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team is good at offending one-on-one defense.The team has three excellent center players, CHEN Nan,ZHANG Xiaoni,and CHEN Lisha,who coordinate well with the outside players in offense.And they play a most important role in winning the game.(5) The team has excellent and balanced overall defensive abilities.The most often defensive tactics that Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team uses is full-court one-on-one defense,and it can flexibly change to 2-3 defense when needed. Facing the current situation of Ba-Yi Women's Basketball team,the author believes that Ba-Yi team should aim at laying a good foundation from everyday training,continue to consolidate its superiority in shooting rate.In the physical confrontation training,the team should pay more attention to train with practice so as to ensure a high offensive/defensive rate when in the real game.And also the high offensive turnover rate needs to be pay attention to and solved.In tactical,the team needs to promote its offensive and defensive ability of outside in order to release the pressure of the centers.This will provide good indemnity to realize Ba-Yi team's strategy and tactics efficiently.
