Throughout history, every country of the world sets two goals for education: to make those educated intelligent, to make those educated noble."The wisdom and nobility here are the concept the knowledge and value. However, the perfect pursuit of education alienated with the development the modern industrial revolution and modern science. In the education of"knowledge is power", people have gained knowledge and harvested the material. But we have lost our spirit and lost self.Environmental crisis is the performance of sheltered education soul. Here is the most incredible thing, the source of knowledge in education is nature. Nature is the mother of education. However, ultimately, education became the tool of stifling environment rather than protecting it. Why?—Contemporary scientists sold their soul to the economists.Now everyone recognize that the solution of environmental crisis is not a technical issue but a problem of awareness. And the lack of education soul in contemporary education undoubtedly intensified the environmental crisis. The promotion of awareness is not a simple mathematical problem. People are steeped in the arrogance of anthropocentrism. Now we are still holding the belief that the people are the masters of all things and all things yardstick. And the awareness of environmental master is not uncommon in the classical literature. Nature is succumbed to the human. The things in the nature are litter if they are not available to human being. Nature is the appendage of people and people have the right use nature freely. Man can triumph over nature. The idea of transcending nature suffuses in philosophy,literature,religion,culture and society. This belief becomes the western environmental model in industrial technology as well. This anthropocentrism is the modern natural value with the development of the science, with the emergence of humanitarian thought and with the form of enlighten spirit. But education didn't give any basic statute on the deformity nature. Education abides to anthropocentrism and becomes the booster behind science technology. The development of science technology strengthens the control on people's psychology and consciousness. People reduced to a functional component and lost freedom. They become the object of being manipulated.So the following is what we need to explore in this essay:Why education became the tool the stifling environment? Where is education going? How can we recover the lost soul of education? What does education to do can make people and environment coexisted harmoniously?In fact, all the values evolved with the ecosystem. These values included in the overall ecosystem. Nature has extrinsic and intrinsic value. The extrinsic value means the nature used by people as an instrument. It means it has meaning on satisfying the need of people."The intrinsic value refers to the inherent value in the natural scenarios and it doesn't need a human as reference. Loons will go on crowing without any appreciation. Loons are not people, but it is a principal part of nature.""Ecosystem has intrinsic value and people's value is the part of ecosystem. Besides ecosystem is the instrument of people and without the sustentation of nature, people can't exist and develop. So through any point of view, the integrity, stability and beauty of biological community are the interest of all life. And the incomplete, unstable and ugly biological community is evil rather than good for the whole life. This is the ethical foundation to protect the environment. Protecting the environment and protecting the ecological integrity of the system are the highest moral order and the ultimate value. Therefore, the human has steady responsibility to nature."This article is divided into four parts. The first part expounds the environmental crisis under modern education. Part II taps the deep-seated root causes of the crisis and points out that anthropocentrism is the cause of modern environmental crisis. Part III points out the value of nature to person, as well as the value and meaning to education through argumentation on extrinsic and intrinsic value of nature. Part IV put forth people and nature can coexist in harmony from the perspective of education. Education will eventually return to nature and education will achieve human perfection that is really caring for others unconditionally. Educational practice and environmental ethics is required in supporting this view. The ultimate goal of education is to get rid of the narrow anthropocentrism and cultivate the right values. People are free before technology rather than a client. This process is a self-reflection and finding the true meaning of education. There is a long and necessary way for education to go home.
