A Study Of Dual Image On Historical Figure

According to systematic psychological theory, Psychobiography regards the Masters as its main subjects and analyses their biographies in order to put forward and verify the theoretical assumptions. As a special social psychological phenomenon, the Dual Image occupies a very important position in the psychobiography.Based on historical facts and the concept of Dual Image, through combined Method of Historical Documents, Experimental Method and Statistical Method, the combinations of quantitative and qualitative analysis, this case study fully analyzed the basic content of Zhuge Liang's Meta-Image and Portrayed Image. The results show that there are four personality factors of "loyalty", "wisdom", "resolution" and "prudent" in Zhuge Liang's Meta-Image and Portrayed Image. By comparing we know the differences and the trend of changes from Zhuge Liang's Meta-Image to Portrayed Image. Through psychobiographical analyzed to Zhuge Liang, we found some of the main aspects which affected the formation of Meta-Image in Zhuge Liang's personality factors:①genetic factor and family background;②vagrant life in wartime;③supporting Liu Bei and fight against Cao Cao is his recovery of Oedipus conflict;④Long shouting with crossed hands around his knees: identity crisis;⑤chance encounter and the formation and development of his life dream;⑥brilliant abilities: personal experience and endeavor. With the analysis of the causes of Portrayed Image, the main factors which affected the formation of Portrayed Image as following:①Zhuge Liang's Meta-Image greatly accords with the traditional image of the ideal personality in China;②the Chinese traditional evaluation criteria of emphasizing morality instead of ability;③the social needs and the development of art forms in particular historical period.
