Learning plan is just students' learning programme correspondent with teachers' teaching plan. It is a kind of teaching material which is carefully designed by teachers to guide students' self-study on the condition that teachers study students' learning situation and some factors regarding students' construction of self-study and its possibility. In brief, the pattern of learning plan-guided teaching is one where students first learn, teachers then teach and finally teachers and students are involved in completing teaching tasks consisting of several steps. Therefore,this article puts forward an English learning plan-guided teaching pattern and the design of learning plan based on the theory of constructivism and the concept and the standards of "the new courses". It attempts to change the way students acquire the English language and turn passive students into active ones. This pattern is carried out with teaching plan and learning plan side by side. It encourages students to actively participate, cooperate and explore in English classes under the guidance of learning plans. It also aims to fully play teachers' leading roles and students' participating roles. Thus, the spirit of reform of "the new courses" is expected to be realized. By practising this teaching pattern, we hope to help students' mental and intellectual growth and their acquisition of English and develop students' learning abilities, cooperation and creation awareness and their ability to put what they learn into practice. The study based on investigation and experiments show that the teaching pattern plays a positive role in achieving the goal.
