Reading instruction is important constituent of Chinese teaching in the middle school, which is also a significant way to improve Students' Chinese quality and promote the students' development. On the background of new curriculum, the traditional situation of "one textbook governing all" has been fundamentally changed. "New Senior Chinese For China (required course)" published by Jiangsu Educational Press is one of the three new Chinese textbooks which have been written according to the new curriculum and have also obtained the permission of the government. It has been widely used as the textbook for the required course in Jiangsu and Zhejiang province,etc.The teaching material is the foundation of the classroom teaching. The textbook published by Jiangsu Educational Press has obtained the system of human subjects, revealed by three different sections, which are "book study", "discussion of the problems"and "activity experience". This teaching material calls for the revolution of the teaching. It is one of the important problems of teaching Chinese with the textbook published by Jiangsu Educational Press to teach Chinese according to the features and innovations of this material and implement the goal of the new curriculum. This essay intends to study the features and innovation in presentation methods, basing on teaching practice of Chinese reading. It also tries to discover a specific strategy of teaching Chinese reading with the new material, according to the requirement of the new curriculum. The essay could be divided into five chapters: the first chapter describes the Chinese reading instruction on the background of new curriculum; the second chapter shows the research about the text book of the required course of the new materials; the third chapter shows the Chinese course, material and teaching; the forth chapter illustrates the study about reading instruction based on the required course new materials. The fifth chapter reveals several relations which should be handled well in the reading instruction of Senior High Chinese.During the whole process, the documentary analysis and case analysis are applied as the primary research methods. In the essay, the author points out the features and the teaching strategies of "book study", "discussion of the problems" and "activities experience". The author puts forward several relations which should be handled well in the Chinese reading instruction in Senior High school. These researches and practical discoveries can be drawn on as experience of effective and efficient reading instructions base on the textbook on the background of the curriculum goal. It also promote the application of the new textbook in practise.This essay researches on the features of the textbook published by the Jiangsu Educational Press from the angle of the teaching practice.
