The Analysis Of The Feasibility Of Establishing A Course In Basketball At Urban Middle Schools In The Central Region In Inner Mongolia

With the promulgation and implementation of "the State Council's decision on the reform of "basic education" and "new curriculum standards", the pace of reforms in high school physical education has been greatly accelerated. Developing optional sports course is one of the main directions of reforms in high school physical education and a key point and highlight of the reforms. New Curriculum Standards require students to enhance the ability of curriculum selection, choose the teaching materials intensively, reduce the portion of the compulsory textbooks and increase the proportion of the elective ones, which provides a basis for the launching of optional sports course in high school. The objects of this study are the teachers and students from urban high school in central Inner Mongolia. The methods used in this paper include meta-analysis of data from published literatures, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and experts interviews. Through the investigation of the physical education teachers, sports sites and equipments, students' interests and hobbies, the inclinations of the leadership and students in central Inner Mongolia urban high school, this paper aims to demonstrate the feasibility of sports optional course, This research is expected to play a positive role in accelerating the implementation of sports optional course, improving teaching skills, promoting the overall reform and development of high school physical education, and providing services in the curriculum reform of the basic education for high school in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.The overall conclusion approves the feasibility and necessarity of developing basketball optional course in central Inner Mongolia urban high school. According to the current survey, the surveyed schools are able to meet the needs for developing basketball optional course with the required human, financial and material resources; the natural environment and financial condition in central region are suitable for developing basketball optional course.
