A Study Of Place Using And Place Attachment On Urban Park

In the recent 20 years, place attachment is a very important theme as parts of place theory research in tourism geography in the overseas, however, it is lack of research production which has just caught the attention in the field of tourism research in our country. Therefore the theory and application studies should be strengthened. As a special recreation destination, a city park is related to residents' life closely. In this context a depth study on the relationship between park-users and places in the park is intensely meaningful to improve the construction and planning of city parks as well as the users' experience.This study takes Beijing Yuan Dynasty Capital Heritage Garden and Black Bamboo Park as examples. By a number of questionnaires and the method of site observation, using relevant statistical software and mathematical analysis, this paper studies the utilized status of places in the parks, and the differences on place attachment from the demographics characteristics such as gender, age and the behavior variables such as activity type, frequency of visitation. It focuses on the analysis of the level of place attachment and the impact factors. The results show that the place attachment degree of users inside the parks ranks around average and there is no significant difference between place dependent and place identity which reflects the synchronous place attachment. This paper states five main factors influencing place dependence including experience factors, physical environment factors etc, and five main factors influencing place identity including personal factor, life and emotional factor, social and psychological factor etc. On the basis it builds a simple theoretical model of impact factors of place attachment. In the end, the suggestions on park planning and management are given in order to achieve the effective use of city parks' space, enhance the degree of place attachment of park users and improve the users'satisfaction.
