Research On The Construction Of Characteristic Disciplines Of Local Universities In Perspective Of Regional Characteristics

Local university is an important structure of Higher Education in China. Local universities have been developing on a large scale and quantity,which have an important role to the large development of Chinese Higher Education, but laterally and longitudinally local universities compete more and more violently. They have lots of competitive disadvantages in survival and development comparing to national universities. How can they remain invincible in such fierce competition? Local universities should have characteristics in running. However, the running characteristics are embodied fundenmentally in discipline construction. One of the key points of running characteristics is the construnction of characteristic disciplines which must be as a breakthrough, the whole power and core competence of universities can be improved and strengthened.The core problem solved in this paper is how to construct characteristic disciplines of local universities. The visual angle studied concentrates in regional characteristics combining with the law of development and construction conditions of the disciplines. From this point of view,by taking research methods of literature analysis,case study, investigate and interview study etc.,firstly integrated theory with practice, analyzed the problems and reasons which existed in the construction of characteristic disciplines, the basic theory through mass documentary analysis, especially the constructive elements of characteristic disciplines, presented that environmental and fundenmental elements are conditional guarantees and characteristic elements are the cores to characteristic disciplines, further structured the growth pattern of characteristic disciplines from the perspective of regional characteristics, namely, exploring the connection between disciplines and regional characteristics to create characteristics, functioning serving the local economy to develop characteristics and continually innovating disciplines to consolidate characteristics, in the end, studied characteristic disciplines in the nature of regional cultural characteristics with the direction of Confucianism, regional natural resources characteristics with the direction of great nonferrous metal, regional economic characteristics with the direction of ceramic industry by case study, demonstrated the above theory's rationality of the characteristic disciplines'construction.
