Since the abolition of the Qing Dynasty Imperial Examination System, China's examination system has been changing and moving forward,in order to adapt the needs of times and the educational system changes.Therefore, mathematics, as one of the toppest priority subjects of secondary education,the development and changes of the examination also has been developing and maturing. Mathematics questions of the Republic of China at each stage has emerged as different characteristics.This paper studies on National College Entrance Examination of Mathematics both on the exam questions and on examination system from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China by using Documentary Research.Firstly,the paper studies National College Entrance Examination of Mathematics during the Republic of China at a view of history.Secondly, it draws useful lessons for the current examination system and the mathematics questions of National College Entrance Examination.The mathematics examination questions are analysed in two parts: in first part,chooses some whole math examine paper in each period of the Republic of China to analyzes; in second part, according to each branch of mathematics chooses a few questions to analyzes. And try to select the questions in different years and different schools.By the way, the questions are selected difference.This paper is divided into five chapters, as follows:Chapter One:Introduction. Elaborated on topics of purpose, meaning, research methods,innovations and the basic point.Chapter Two: Discusses the mathematics questions and mathematics examinations before "Renxu School System" promulgated in 1922. In this period, the questions mainly contain four branches:arithmetic,algebra, trigonometry and geometry. This chapter discusses the mathematics education in the late Qing Dynasty at the beginning because of its huge influence. The mathematics questions of Tong Wen Guan and the Jing Shi College are collected and analyzed as examples.In addition,this chapter draws some characteristics of these questions.Chapter Three: Discusses the mathematics questions and mathematics examinations during"Renxu School System" to when Anti-Japanese War broke out.The examination questions between1923-1937 are analyzed and some characteristics of these mathematics questions are drawed. In this period, the questions mainly relats to five branches:algebra, trigonometry, geometry (plane, three-dimensional), analytic geometry and advanced algebra. During this period, curriculum standards revised frequently, by which all mathematics questions of pedagogy, as well as corresponding changes.Chapter Four: Discusses the mathematics questions and mathematics examinations during 1938-1949 and analyses the characteristics of the examination and the math questions.In this period, the questions mainly related to algebra, trigonometry, geometry (plane, three-dimensional), analytic geometry and advanced algebra five branches.Chapter Five: Summarizes the points of chaptes above.Based on Comparative Research Method,the characteristics of the National College Entrance Examination has been discussed comparatively not only in the Republic of China but also in nowadays. Besides, discusses some of the issues arising from university entrance examinations thoroughly.
