The basic concept of'Full-time Compulsory Education Geography Curriculum Standards (trial version)'clearly point out that'the Geography education must pay attention to a variety of ways of geographic learning, and according to students' understanding of the law of development, attention to students' experience leads students to form appropriate learning style during geographic learning process. The geographic curriculum standards cultivate students'active learning, cooperation and exchange, and active exploration.Self-studying is not only a learning style advocated by geographic curriculum standards, but also a learning ability. This ability refers to that students can form an appropriate self-efficacy, set learning goal positively, use learning strategies, and keep self-control, carry on self-evaluation positively, form active learning motivation and so on. And this ability is consistent with geographic curriculum standards. Students'self- studying ability is inseparable from the use of self- studying materials.Based on literature analytic method and experience induction, this thesis explores how to design materials for self-studying students of Junior high school, which include basic concepts, the overall framework, principles under concrete learning and teaching situations, provides general design strategy of macro-structural design and micro-structure design; and designs certain cases in accordance with principles and strategies so as to provide design model of self-learning materials for teachers. The main content of this study is how to design self-studying materials for geography class of Junior high school, including:(1) Principle for self-studying material designâ‘ the concept of self-studying material design,â‘¡design strategy of framework for self-studying materials,â‘¢design principles under concrete self-studying learning modal.(2) Strategies of content design for self-studying materialâ‘ the strategy of macro-structure of self-learning materials design,â‘¡the strategy of micro-structure of self-learning materials design.(3)The case of self-studying material designFinally, the thesis generalizes the direction of development of self-studying materials of geography for Junior high school. The development is mainly from macro-direction and micro-direction. Using systematic design patterns of self-studying materials and combined with self-studying geography textbook system, macro-direction designs comprehensive self-studying materials. In micro-direction, front-line teachers gradually design self-studying materials during teaching process, which is suitable for students to learn.
