Marine information is the basis to sustain governments decision-making. In the face of challenge of international marine information technology, its important to establish marine information system of China. GIS could help to build marine information system.IDL (the Interactive Data Language) is a complete computing environment for the interactive analysis and visualization of data. IDL integrates a powerful, array-oriented language with numerous mathematical analysis and graphical display techniques. ION is a family of products that allow you to run IDL-driven applications in a networked environment, giving internet users access to IDL visualization and analysis. The ION family currently consists of two products: ION Script and ION Java. While ION Script and ION Java can be used separately or together to create interactive Web applications powered by IDL.This article focused on the principle and implementation of the Web GIS . And thought of characteristic of Marine information, we give a project of Web GIS building in Marine field, based on ION and integration Asp Java scripttechnology. This was adopt in building the Marine data sharing flat.
