Web Services technologies bring new network computing mode. Usually application integration in enterprise uses DCOM or CORBA. However, application integration among enterprises, because application platform and programming language among enterprises was different, was complex and difficult. It is suitable for Web Services. We can package kinds of applications as Web Services, and then deploy them into intranet/internet, where they can be easily found and used. Then what infrastructure is needed? a platform for Web Services to deploy and run. But today enterprise applications mostly run in n-tier architecture, it is important to modify n-tie architecture to support Web Services. This is the origin of the third web architecture--Web Services Platform Architecture.Based on the analysis of the traditonal plat Web Services architecture which is put forward by W3C, the paper analyses Web Services architecture vertically. Then, common elements are abstracted from it .The paper puts the elements together and describes the relation of them, which form the abstract architecture of Web Services platform. Following the principle of opening, the software architecture of Web Services platform is designed by the layered means.The software architecture is mostly composed of management and monitoring tool, workflow tool, security framework and Web Services container. In the later parts of the paper, it describes the research of "Web Services container", which composes an integral Web Services platform with other components together which are researched by other students . Firstly, it anaglyzes the feature of stateful Web Services, and puts forward a method of state management of Web Services. Secondly, the concurrency control of Web Services is studied based on Web Services lifecycle. On the basis of those, an architecture of Web Services container is put forward with an aim at implementing stateful Web Services and concurrency control of Web Services. Finally, the paper describes the implementation of Web Services container(WSC), including the way to contain WSC into Enhydra, the implementation of components of WSC, and the way to join WSC and other tools. As an important factor, the job of evaluating WSC is introduced in the last section .
