Objective:To research the relationship between acute ischemic stroke TOAST-classification system and TCM diagnosis and syndrome factors, indicating further clinical therapy. Methods:Patients were selected from 2013 January to December 2015 in our hospital of department of the 3rd encephalopathy ward according to their diagnosis on acute ischemic cerebral apoplexy as research subjects. The retrospectively study were classified by a standardized questionnaire, including baseline data of patients, family history, past medical history, TOAST classification, TCM diagnosis, and syndromes factors. TOAST-classification included LAA, SAO, CE, SOE and SUE. The data analysis was accomplished on chi-square analysis and Spearman analysis by using SPSS 20.0 software. The relationship between TOAST classification and TCM syndrome of acute ischemic stroke was studied, and the difference of P<0.05 was statistically significant.ResultsA total of 218 patients (aging from 35 to 94),which 67.44% were male and 32.56% were female, have been divide into four groups, of the mean age was 68.93 (±12.34) years, the accounting for age over 60 of the total number of the patients was 153. There were 127 LAA patients,81 SAO patients,9 CE patients,1 SUE patients. Stroke disease (only ischemic) category in the Zhenzhongfeng accounted for 77.06%,22.94% of the type of Leizhongfeng. After SPSS analysis we had found that the family history of cerebral infarction among different types of TOAST was different. LAA type and phlegm heat syndrome, Qi deficiency syndrome was positively correlated (both P=0.032). CE type and yin deficiency syndrome, Yang deficiency syndrome was positively correlated (both P=0.01). SAO type has no correlation between TCM syndromes. The zhen zhongfeng group showed that Zhongjingluo and Qi deficiency was positively correlated (P=0.046), while comparing to Yang deficiency was positively correlated (P=0.002). Zhong zangfu and phlegm heat syndrome was positively correlated (P=0.021), while comparing to wind phlegm syndrome was positively correlated (P=0.015). The lei zhongfeng group showed that fengxuanand wind phlegm syndrome were positively correlated (P=0.018), while comparing to blood stasis syndrome was negative correlation (P=0.028). Fengyi and phlegm heat syndrome were positively correlated (P=0.000).Conclusionl.The percentage of TOAST classification system were LAA 58.26%, SAO 37.15%, CE 4.13%, SOE0%, SUE 0.46%.2.The patients who had familial stroke disease were more likely to get LAA.3.the LAA group may be related to phlegm heat syndrome, Qi deficiency syndrome. The CE group may be related to Yin deficiency syndrome and yang deficiency syndrome.4.The zhongzangfu group may be related to phlegm heat. The zhongjingluo group may be related to Qi deficiency and yang deficiency.5.The fengxuan group may be related to wind phlegm. The fengyi group may be related to wind phlegm.
