A Study On The System Of Ding

As an important part of Chinese funeral rites, the Dingyou system had a profound effect on Chinese history. It had been prefect in Tang Dynasty, and since then, the follows got profit and loss based on it. This system played an important role in the stability of Tang Empire together with others.I divide my paper into five parts:The first part, I give a brief overview about previous academic research on this system. Most of predecessors only engaged the system in research on the framework of Tang Dynasty funeral rites, so the achievements are lack of integrity and systematic.in this paper, I complete my work through studying the epitaphs information which has been studied by few others. For the departed, I do not repeat it but quote to illustrate my point.The second part, in order to sort out a clear line on the developing base of Dingyou in Tang Dynasty, I dissertated each developing stage of Dingyou before Tang. We can find that Dingyou had been in a certain extent at that time.The third part, I lay stress on the rules:especially law, amenity and social norm which is related to Dingyou. Thought this discussion, we can see the specific operating conditions of Dingyou in Tang.The fourth part, I analysis the historical changes of Dingyou, and the reason of this process. In the early age of Tang, emperors restored the destroyed system. In the booming time, Dingyou reached its peak. However, with the rebellion of An and Shi, this system began to decline.The fifth part, I discuss the historical influence of Tang’s Dingyou system. It improved mature and had a profound impact on Tang and the later Dynasties. Tang’s Dingyou system is also the model of the later.All in all, this article paints the basic developed outline of Dingyou and proposes my some opinion of my own. Though this paper, we can have a better understanding of Tang’s Dingyou.
