Since Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) was introduced into China, it hasattracted all the researchers’ and the teachers’ attention. Teaching practice has provedthat TBLT is an effective teaching method. Listening, as an important part in languagelearning, has not received enough attention. So the purpose of this paper is to combineTBLT with English listening, and to prove whether TBLT can improve students’listening learning motivation and the teaching.Teaching experiment and questionniar are applied in this thesis. During theteaching experiment, TBLT was employed to the experiment class, while for thecontrol class, the teacher used the traditional listening teaching method. After teachingexperiment, the statistics taken from the questionnaire and the tests are compared andthe results showed that: compared with the control class, students in experiment classhas obvious improvement in five dimensions about motivation and their Englishachievements also has gotten evidently progress.The teaching experiment proved that TBLT can improve students’ listeninglearning motivation. Therefor in the practical teaching, teachers should design properlearning tasks according with students’ learning level and through finishing these tasks,students’ learning motivation got improvemnts and their listening ability can alsoimprove gradually.
