| Emotional Stroop tasks are the Principal research tool for demonstrating mechanism biases.Emotional Stroop usually infer the presence of attention biases towards negative words based onlonger reaction time performance In a color-naming task. Inhibition of Return refers to thedelayed response times to targets presented at the previously attended locations or objects ascompared to the novel ones.Behavioral studies that use inhibition of return and emotional Stroop paradigm were reportedin this thesis. By manipulating the different cued versus and cued location, we aimed toinvestigate the reaction between emotion Stroop and inhibition of return, in order to find the themechanical effect of inhibition of return on emotional Stroop. To achieve this goal, there are three studies that are designed in this paper: the effects ofinhibition of return on emotional Stroop based on on-off cueing (single-cue procedure),simultaneous cueing and sequential cueing (multiple-cue procedure). Considering the effect onmultiple-cue procedure, cue location is added in the thesis, including apart and adjacent position. The result is as following:1. Under the on-off cueing, the cue’s validity has inhibitory effect on positive stimuluswhile facilitating effect on negative stimulus.2. In the multiple-cue procedure, the effect speed of apart position is much faster thanthat of adjacent position.3. Although there are different kind of inhibition of return effects in these three studies, the main effect of emotion valence is not significant that emotional Stroop is influenced bythe regulatory effect. |
