A Contrastive Analysis Of Chinese And English Marriage

Love and marriage are the inevitable parts in human being’s life. They have aclose relationship with the development of human being. The paper aims at findingthe similarity and feature of the words in the two languages by contrastive study ofthe words of love and marriage in system, category of meaning and metaphor. Wehope that the study will be helpful to the teaching of words.The first chapter mainly expounds the significance of the thesis, together withliterature review of Chinese-English contrastive study and the words of love andmarriage. The second chapter analyzes the words of love and marriage in system, andfinds that most words of love and marriage in Chinese and English are similar insystem, and the main features in forms are also similar, but there are still somedifferences between them. The third chapter analyzes the words of love and marriagein category of meaning, taking “love” as an example and finds the similarities anddifferences in it. The fourth chapter analyzes the words of love and marriage inmetaphor, and finds the similarities and differences in it. The last chapter is theconclusion, enlightenment of the research.
