| Implicature is a common phenomenon in the Chinese language. It is difficult for the foreign students to grasp and understand the implied meaning correctly in daily conversation. The TCSOL teachers have to face the problem that how to help foreign students to understand the speaker’s implied intention. This paper aims to explore the implication phenomenon in the TCSOL textbooks, in order to provide convenience for the Chinese language teaching and to help foreign students have a better comprehension of the implied intention in Chinese language.The improvement of foreign students’comprehension capacity on "implicature" must be based on a well understanding of Gricean conversational implicature theory. First of all, the paper reviewed researches of the "conversational implicature" theory at home and abroad. In order to investigate the implication phenomenon in the TCSOL textbooks and the new HSK test, the author chose eleven typical Chinese textbooks, two HSK reference books and twenty-four sets of latest HSK test papers.376 sentences containing "implicature" were collected. Then, these sentences were classified into four categories:(1) figures of speech, (2) conversational strategies, (3) Chinese idioms, (4) special words and expressions which contain some implied meaning. Then, the author analyzed how these sentences violated the Cooperative Principle. Afterwards, the results of the contrastive analysis of the distribution of implicature phenomenon between the textbooks and the new HSK examination papers would be reflected in the histograms. In the end, the author provided relevant suggestions in order to improve the foreign students’pragmatic comprehension and make the implication easier to understand. |
