Since 1921 China’s first film magazine- "The Film Magazine" founded,film magazine is regarded as the film industry’s byproduct, growing and developing together with film. Not onlt recorded the development of China’s film industry, but also witnessed the historical changes in Chinese society. In the early 1930 s, under abnormal social, political, economic environment, the development of our country’s film industry was encumnbered, as well as the film magazines showing unique styles. The revival of domestic film and advocating for domestic films thinking became the main theme of Chinese film. Especially ”Movie Weekly” came out to the fore in advocating domestic films as a leader. This thesis will regard ”Movie Weekly” as the research object. Through the study of the journal, exploring the unique charm of the early thirties Chinese film magazines from the perspective of Journalism and Communication.”Movie Weekly” December 26, 1930 founded in Shanghai, was a forerunner of spreading domestic film thought in the film magazines of 1930 s. It was not attached to any film company, adhering to the objective and independence principles. Writing the purpose of “Discussing the film art, Promoting domestic films” into magazine. It is the most mature and systems film magazine among the magazines in the same period.The magazine adhered to the spread of domestic film idea, published a number of articles in order to shooting excellent domestic films and resisting imported films. From promoting the development of China’s film industry, it criticized the problems of domestic film and market, recommended outstanding domestic films and stars and discussed the methods of ptomoting domestic films, playing support function in ptomoting domestic films. This article is based on the contents of ”Movie Weekly”, seeking to reveal the thought of domestic films and providing references of Chinese film industry’s development in contemporary.
