On The Absurdity Of Individual Existence In Yan Lianke 's Novels

Contemporary writer Yan Lianke’s works is a bonanza but controversial, especially his "Palou series" novels,which deeply reflect the author thinking about destiny, life and reality. Yan lianke’s novels give a penetrating of life, the core of which stands an angle that is a fusion of love, hope, dream, and fight. However, what surround the angel are the other opposite elements such as suffering,hopeless,loss, even desperation.In his writings,no matter how much the heroes bend himself,they are still unable to get out of the squeezed and alienated real world. On the one hand, it is the heroes who compromise with the world no matter what the price is;on the other hand, it is a world that shows mock and conflict about human who have hops and keep striving. So the contradictions and conflicts between human and the world can never be eliminated, human cannot escape the clutches of the absurd. Then raises a sense of hopelessness and absurdity of life.Based on the results of previous studies, this paper deals with further interpretation and meticulous analysis of the absurd fates of Yan lianke’s heroine in the works,deeply explores the reason for this absurd situation and finally grasp the author’s intention as a whole,mainly through three main sections. Chapter Ⅰ, through historical and personal context, understands the root causes of the individual absurdity in whole and deep aspect. Chapter Ⅱ, deep into the text, through "prison and freedom", "dream and reality", "fall of soul flesh" and so on to concretely interpretate the absurd fate of individual. Chapter Ⅲ,first summarizes the text, analysizing the fighting efforts of the characters agaist their fate, and also the alienation and persecution in the charasters. Then,under the idea--present writing of real soul, understand the characteristics of Yan lianke’s writing. Last but not least,standing on the aspect of "people’s criticism and concern", explaine Yan,an intellectual, who,bywriting, attempts to get people in reality out of the darkness, despair and absurd surviva conditionl, and reach the bright hope.
