In the literature master works, Hemingway describe the iceberg seven eights under the water and let readers complement scenery by observing it’s one eighths above the water. That is the process of metaphor. This paper analyzes the metaphorical expression of narration in the movies directed by director Spike Jones. By interpreting the multi-layered metaphor in the movie, exploring the narrative styles. Starting with the narrative theme, structure and movie shots, analyzing movie narratives and metaphor themselves and their relationship. On the other hand, by interpreting the metaphor in the movie narrative, this paper will combine the movie narrative theory exploring deeply about metaphor from the movie name, character set, environment set, and storyline and image style angles. In addition, this paper will explore the value of Spike Jones’ movie by analyzing the ideological of narrative metaphor under the cultural context. This paper will use mirror theory and gaze theory as the theoretical basis to discuss the director’s metaphorical thinking reflected from internal thinking and external visual. “one eighth” of voice and video combine with the “ seven eighths” of thinking and connotation making the movie – the metaphor of art.
